PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Coming off an MVP performance at the 2017 Reese's All-Star game two weeks ago in Phoenix, Tyler Cavanaugh is once again set to showcase his talents in front of scouts from the NBA and international leagues as he takes part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament this week.
Cavanaugh will suit up for Portsmouth Partnership, which plays its first game in the tournament on Wednesday at 9 p.m. The 65th edition of the PIT wraps up on Saturday and features the top seniors from across the nation.
In the Reese's All-Star game held at the Final Four, Cavanaugh put on a show against many of the players who will also take part in the PIT. The Syracuse native went for 19 points and 14 rebounds in 22 minutes of action to lead his team to a 121-90 victory, and connected on 7-of-10 shots from the field.
This marks the second consecutive season GW has sent a player to Portsmouth, with Patricio Garino and Kevin Larsen competing in the event last year. Garino is currently playing for the Orlando Magic, while Larsen is playing professionally in Germany.
