WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis squad dropped its home finale on Sunday afternoon, as Georgetown came away with a 5-2 win at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Colonials (5-11) started off the day by claiming the doubles point in come-from-behind fashion. After Georgetown's top duo claimed a quick victory, freshman Sara Grubac and sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps took a 6-4 triumph at No. 2. Sophomore Teodora Radosavljevic and senior Egle Jakuciunaite then clinched the early point for GW with a 6-4 win of their own in third-flight play.
The Hoyas (10-5) tied the match with a straight-set win at the No. 2 spot to start solo play. Decamps put GW back on top with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in fifth-flight action, but Georgetown regained the edge after taking the No. 3 match.
The Hoyas then clinched the match with wins at the Nos. 3 and 6 positions.
Radosavljevic battled at the top solo spot, but ultimately fell in three sets before Georgetown finished the day with another three-set win, this time at the No. 4 spot, to take a 5-2 victory on the day.
Prior to the match, Jakuciunaite and senior Lana Robins were honored in a senior day ceremony along with assistant coach Dominika Kanakova, who will also graduate in May.
The Colonials wrap the regular season on the road next weekend, visiting Revolutionary Rival George Mason on Saturday before heading to Maryland on Sunday.
