WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis squad wrapped its weekend of competition with a convincing 6-1 win over visiting Norfolk State on Sunday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis Center.
Juniors Allison Hansen and Taylor Nederlander snagged a quick, 6-1, victory at the top spot to open doubles play, but Norfolk State (0-3) took the final two matches to take an early, 1-0, lead.
The Colonials went on to sweep singles play, beginning with a dominating, 6-1, 6-0, triumph in fifth-flight action by Nederlander to tie the match at 1-1. The Buff and Blue took the lead after a strong, 6-2, 6-3, victory by the nation's No. 111-ranked player Teodora Radosavljevic at GW's top solo slot.
Freshman Sara Grubac tallied a straight-set, 6-2, 6-3, win of her own at the No. 3 position before senior Lana Robins clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in second-flight action.
Rookie Victoria Kogan followed with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 6, and sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps came back from a first set deficit to grab a 3-6, 6-1, (10-6) triumph to close the day of play.
