Interim Head Coach Maurice Joseph
On the resiliency in the second half and takeaways from the game:
"I love the resiliency. We should be proud of how we fought. We have to understand that we can't dig ourselves into this deep of a hole, with this good of a team and expect to win. You expend all of that energy trying to claw your way back, and we did that and we did a really great job of that, but we were kind of gassed towards the end and couldn't finish the job. It was a great learning experience for us. All of these wins and all of these losses are all going to be learning experiences for us. We're a young team. We have to continue to learn from these experiences and hopefully it pays dividends come A-10 season."
On the issues defensively:
"I have to do a better job getting our guys ready to play. However I have to do that. If it's playing time or if it's a change in the lineups to figure out who's willing to come out and guard with energy. We have to sit down as a staff and talk about that, but I'll put that on me. If our energy level is low that's my fault. We came out flat and I have to figure out how to change that."
On reducing turnovers:
"We have to go into film and just understand what we're doing wrong and what we're doing good. I think we're overpassing at times and had two or three offensive fouls on post-ups today. Just wacky plays. We're overpassing. We're overthinking. We're not being sharp and crisp with our passes. We're not executing the way we're supposed to. We're not doing the things we do daily in practice and I think that's what causing these turnovers. It's a long season. We have to get work. It's a long season and we just have to get to work and continue to improve."
On positives to takeaway from this game:
"I think (Arnaldo) Toro the last three games has done a great job. He's been really effective with the time he's been given. He's been rebounding, scoring. He's really poised in the post. He's done a really great job. Obviously, Tyler (Cavanaugh) and Yuta (Watanabe) have been good. (Jaren) Sina was good besides his turnovers today. I thought he made some gutsy plays today, made some big shots. He did a good job leading. We've got to go back to the drawing board and figure out how we're going to be sharper, how we're going to improve for the Penn State game coming up this weekend."
Junior Guard Jaren Sina
On tonight's outcome:
"We started off slow. The energy level wasn't great to start the game, but I was proud of the guys and how we came back. We played hard."
On what needs to change defensively:
"The biggest thing is we've just got to lock in. Coach (Maurice) Joseph works so hard for us, we've just got to follow him."
On turnovers:
"It gives them more possessions, so we've got to be more careful with the ball."
On positive takeaways:
"We played two very good teams. We've got to get back and watch some film, keep moving forward and getting better."
