A #MonumentalHomeCourtAdvantage
Since the beginning of the 2013-14 season, the Smith Center has turned into one of the best homecourt advantages in college basketball. In fact, it can be said it is the best in the Atlantic 10, as GW holds the highest winning percentage at home of any team in the conference during that time span.
The Colonials are 33-3 since the court was redesigned to feature images of the White House flanked by the United States Capitol and the Washington Monument prior to the 2013-14 season. This year, GW is a perfect 7-0.

Tip-ins from the 83-49 win over Rutgers
- GW totaled 18 steals in the game, the most during Mike Lonergan's tenure. The last time a Colonials team recorded more than that was Nov. 14, 2006, when they had 19 vs. Dartmouth.
- For the third time this year, the Colonials knocked down double-digit 3-pointers, connecting on 10-of-26 in the game. Last year, GW didn't have 10 or more in a game until Jan. 24, the 20th game of the season.
- Over the last four games GW has found its shooting stroke, hitting 35-of-82 (.427) from 3-point range after making just 29-of-104 (.279) in the season's first six games.
- Five players had multiple assists as GW totaled 18 as a team. Paul Jorgensen led the way with a game-high five, while Kevin Larsen, Tyler Cavanaugh and Patricio Garino had three apiece.
- Cavanaugh's game-high 22 points came efficiently, as the junior forward needed just 23 minutes of game action and nine shots from the field to get there. He surpassed his previous career-high of 20 which had reached twice in his career (earlier this season against Gardner-Webb, and against Duke while he was at Wake Forest).
Quotable
"We're feeling good. There's a lot left in the season though, and we know what we have to do. Nine and one feels good, but we know we can get a lot better."
- Paul Jorgensen, on the team's 9-1 start
