GW Women's Tennis Moves Through ITA Atlantic Regional Championships

Singles & Doubles Draws
BLACKSBURG, Va. - The George Washington women's tennis team advanced in doubles play at the 2014 ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Friday afternoon at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Freshman Marie-Louise Decamps won her first qualifying singles match, defeating Saint Joseph's Claire Minnoe, 7-5, 6-2, but ultimately fell to Amanda Keller of Navy, 6-1, 1-6, 3-6.
All three of the Buff and Blue's doubles teams won to move through the main doubles draw. Sophomore Allison Hansen and junior Lana Robins teamed up for an 8-7 (5) tiebreaker win over Navy's Claudia Mackenzie and Katie Porter, and Decamps and sophomore Taylor Nederlander defeated Denny LaMachia and Kim Milla of Delaware, 8-6. Sophomore Grace Egger and rookie Teodora Radosavljevic rolled to an 8-4 victory over Radford's Natalie Sayer and Gemma Valls.
The USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships is a single-elimination format and winners of the singles and doubles flights will earn automatic bids to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, which will be held from Nov. 6-9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The annual tournament is made up of 22 other schools in Delaware, Duquesne, Georgetown, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Marshall, Maryland, Navy, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Radford, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Temple, UMBC, VCU, Virginia, host Virginia Tech and William & Mary.
The Colonials continue doubles play and open main draw singles action on Saturday morning.
