GW Men's Cross Country Takes Sixth at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington men's cross country team returned to action on Saturday morning and finished in sixth place out of seven teams at the Navy Invitational on the United States Naval Academy Golf Club.
The event featured three teams that are ranked in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region poll in Navy, American and Loyola.
The Midshipmen won the event followed by AU and Malone College. Johns Hopkins and UMBC finished ahead of the Colonials while regionally ranked Loyola (Md.) followed in seventh place. Saturday marked the second meet in a row that the Colonials finished ahead of regionally-ranked Loyola.
All of GW's harriers posted improvements over their respective 8,000-meter times from the Seagull Opener on September 1.
The Colonials were led by senior Alex Dadds, who navigated the 8,000-meter course on the U.S.N.A. Golf Club in 26:29.70, less than two minutes behind the overall winner Mark Allen of American. Dadds' finished in 29th place out of 59 total runners and was about a minute faster than his time from the season opener.
John Louis-Pane was next across the finish line for GW, finishing in 26:41.74 for 36th place, improving on his season-opening time by about 35 seconds.. Ryan Tucker (26:47.28) followed in 39th and posted about a 45-second improvement. Tucker finished ahead of Kyle Ames (45th, 27:10.28), Marco Siragusa (49th, 27:35.69) and Tyler Gillies (54th, 28:36.59).
The Colonials return to action on September 29 at the George Mason Invitational.
