GW Women's Soccer Earns Third Straight National Academic Award

WASHINGTON - For the third time in as many years, the George Washington women's soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 school year. The 25-member Colonials squad posted an impressive 3.52 combined cumulative GPA last academic year.
To earn NSCAA Academic honors, teams must earn a 3.0 GPA or higher over the course of the fall and spring semesters. GW was joined by 571 other Division I, II and III women's soccer programs from across the country.
Every member of the Buff and Blue squad registered a 3.5 GPA or higher in both the fall and spring semesters. Three Colonials, including current player, junior Kayley Sullivan, boasted a perfect 4.0.
GW, which was led by 12th-year head coach Tanya Vogel, led fellow Atlantic 10 members Charlotte (3.45), Dayton (3.25), Fordham (3.30), La Salle (3.48), Richmond (3.16), St. Bonaventure (3.41), Temple (3.10) and Xavier (3.37) with the conference's highest GPA.
The Colonials closed out the 2011 season with an overall record of 5-12-2 and a 2-5-2 mark in the A-10.
