Taylor Homers in Softball Loss to Fordham

BRONX, NY- The George Washington softball team dropped their seventh-straight Atlantic 10 Conference game Saturday falling 11-1 in five innings to Fordham. The Colonials fall to 11-17-1 on the season, 3-7 in the A-10, while the Rams improve to 24-16, 7-3 on the season.
Fordham jumped on the board in the bottom of the first posting two runs on two hits and a GW error.
Autumn Taylor led off the second inning with a home run to center field to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
The Rams added three runs in the third inning on a three-run home run to left field, knocking out GW starter Kara Clauss after two and a third innings of work. Clauss (8-10) struck out two and walked one.
Heidi Penna came into the game in a relief appearance, getting out of the inning without allowing a run.
In the sixth inning, Penna walked three batters to load the bases for Fordham with two outs. The Rams scored two runs on back-to-back singles, but the grand slam sealed the 11-1 win for Fordham.
The Colonials head to take on Towson for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 12 at the Towson Center Field beginning at 3:00 pm. The Colonials will take on the George Mason Patriots for a single game on Wednesday, April 13 at 4:00 pm.
