
Women's Tennis Sweeps Towson, 7-0

TOWSON, MD -- George Washington women's tennis swept Towson, 7-0, to close out the 2011 regular season with a 13-6 record on Sunday, taking a quick 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches.
Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn improved to 8-6 in doubles action this season when they defeated Andrea Samlin and Encarni Lizana, 8-2, at the No. 1 doubles match. Julia Blakeley and Leah Pascarella won 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, while Jennifer Hirsh and Jacqueline Corba won 8-6 in the third doubles match.
The Colonials carried the momentum into their singles matches, each winning in straight sets. Senior Jennifer Hirsh closed out her GW tennis career with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 5 match.
Corba won her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-2, while Blakeley defeated her Towson opponent, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 2 singles.
Pascarella won 6-3, 7-6(5), in her No. 3 match. Hamiling won 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 4 singles match while Dorota Lysienia won 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
The Colonials return to the Mount Vernon Tennis Center to get ready for the 2011 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship on April 8-10 at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, VA.
