WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington's Tony Taylor has been named to the 2010-11 Atlantic 10 men's basketball All-Conference Second Team in voting conducted among the Conference's 14 head coaches, the league office announced Monday. Taylor is the first Colonial to be named to the postseason All-Conference second team since the 2005-06 season.
Taylor leads the Colonials in scoring with 14.8 points per game, assists with 138 (4.6 apg) and steals with 40 (1.3 spg). The 6-1 junior guard from Sleepy Hollow, NY, also ranks fifth in the league in assists-per-game average and sixth in the A-10 in scoring in conference games only.
George Washington (17-13, 10-6 A-10) is the No. 5 seed in the 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Tournament set to get underway Tuesday at four A-10 campuses. The Colonials will host #12 seed Saint Joseph's at Charles E. Smith Center at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that contest will advance to Atlantic City to meet the No. 4 seed (Duquesne) on Friday, Mar. 11 in a 2:30 p.m. game at Boardwalk Hall. The GW-Saint Joseph's first-round game will be televised nationally on the CBS College Sports Network and broadcast live on 1500 AM and 820 AM and online at www.FederalNewsRadio.com.
