• Saturday's Game: GW (3-5, 0-0 A-10) faces Oregon State (4-5, 0-0 Pac-10) for the second straight year, Saturday at Gill Coliseum.
•Saturday's game marks the third meeting between the teams. Most recently, GW lost to OSU, 64-57, on Nov. 28, 2009, before a Smith Center crowd that included the Obama family.
• Oregon State is coming off a 71-66 loss at Montana Wednesday in Missoula. The Beavers are 3-2 at home this season. OSU also defeated two other common opponents with GW in A-10 foe Charlotte (83-70) on Nov. 24 at Gill Coliseum, and Howard (84-74), on Nov. 27 in Washington.
• In its last outing, OSU was led by Angus Brandt and Roberto Nelson with 13 points each at Montana. The Beavers shot 44 percent from the field and sank six threes against the Griz but committed 14 turnovers. OSU's bench outscored Montana's bench, 45-3.
• The Beavers are among the Div. I leaders with 13.0 steals per game.
• OSU is picked to finish 8th in the Pac-10 preseason poll of media who cover Pac-10 basketball released Oct. 28.
• GW has been idle for nine days for final exams after a 73-67 victory over Towson Dec. 8 at the Smith Center, snapping a four-game skid. The Colonials shot 44.4 percent in that game, just the second time this season that GW has shot a higher percentage than its opponent.
A Closer Look at Oregon State: The Beavers are off to a 4-5 start that includes a home victory over A-10 member Charlotte (83-70). The Beavers are led by senior Omari Johnson with 12.4 ppg and 7.0 rebounds a game. Jared Cunningham (11.6 ppg), Calvin Haynes (11.6 ppg) and Lathen Wallace (10.1 ppg) also score in double figures. As a team, the Beavers are shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from 3-point range and 66.7 percent from the line. OSU has been beaten on the boards so far posting a -4.8 rebounding margin but has taken care of the ball and sports a +5.0 turnover margin on the strength on its Div. I-leading 13.0 steals per game through its first nine contests.
Next Game: GW returns to the nation's capital to host East Carolina (7-3) Dec. 22 at Smith Center. The GW-ECU game will tip at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on 1500 AM and 820 AM, as well as at FederalNewsRadio.com.
