
Softball Swept by Saint Joseph's in A-10 Doubleheader

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University softball team fell to Saint Joseph's Sunday in an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader at the Mount Vernon Softball Field, 10-1 in five innings in game one, 1-0 in game two.
The Colonials collected eight hits off of the Hawks, but were unable to string multiple hits in a row to knock a run in.
In the top half of the doubleheader, SJU put up two in the second inning and three in the fifth. The Hawks added one in the fourth and four in the fifth get the Conference win.
GW started a late rally in the bottom of the fifth when Amanda Holst led of the inning with a single. Jamie Yaniga pushed Holst to second when she got on by a Hawks error at third base. Krissy Mackiewicz scored Holst from second with a hit to centerfield.
In the second game, Heidi Penna held the Hawks to one run, scored in the top of the first.
The Colonials (11-22, 2-6 A-10) have a few days off before traveling to La Salle and Dayton for two A-10 doubleheaders. GW faces La Salle on April 9, with the first game starting at 3:00 p.m. then travels to Ohio to face Dayton at 12:00 p.m. on April 11.
