AMHERST, MA - George Washington softball fell to #21 Massachusetts in game two of the Atlantic 10 Conference series, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Krissy Mackiewicz led off the game with a single and stole her ninth base of the season, but was left stranded. Junior Amanda Gabriel got the Colonials' second hit of the game in the fourth inning. Lauren Wilson was then hit by a pitch, but both runners were stranded.
The Minutewomen scored single runs in the first, second and third innings. GW held them off the board in the fourth but UMass put three up in the fifth and added one in the sixth.
Freshman Kara Clauss (4-6) pitched six innings in the loss. Clauss allowed 11 hits, seven earned runs, walked five and struck out four batters.
The Colonials will take on the Rams of Rhode Island Sunday, for an A-10 doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
