Hogan Finishes Fourth To Lead Colonials in Navy Invitational

Annapolis, MD - The George Washington Colonial Cross Country team was back in action Saturday at the Navy Invitational and was paced by a new face on the team. Transfer Megan Hogan, who has impressed since she arrived in Washington, DC, finished her 8k run with a time of 22:53.01, earning fourth place. This was Hogan's first-ever Division I race. The Colonial women finished eighth out of 15 teams at the meet.
Head Coach Brian Beil was extremely pleased with Hogan's success. "I'm thrilled with Megan's effort today," said Beil. "She ran with great confidence and made some very strong moves in the second half of the race. With roughly twelve hundred meters to go in the race she was in the 10th position, then put it in another gear and really finished with authority.The transfer process is never an easy one, so you love to see someone like Megan who went through so much to get here do so well in her first race at this level."
Senior Collin Stevenson paced the Colonials on the men's side with a 57th place finish and a time of 27:26.70. Senior Keith Moody was the next George Washington runner to cross the finish line with a 75th place finish. In the very large men's meet, with 15 teams taking part, there were 117 runners on the men's side.
The women also got an impressive run out of sophomore Jessica Stern, who had previously run a quality race in Mt. St. Mary's. Stern finished in 28th place in the very tight women's race. Freshman Emily Foster was the third Colonial to finish in the women's race, in 77th place. The women had an even larger pool of 158 runners.
The Colonials next compete in a week, on Saturday, September 20 in the William & Mary Inter-Regional on the campus of William & Mary. The race has a start time of 10:00 a.m. EST.
