Men's Basketball Signs Allbritton, Ware For 2008-09

WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington basketball coach Karl Hobbs has announced that guard Matt Allbritton and guard/forward Aaron Ware have signed National Letters-of-Intent to play for the Colonials in 2008. Allbritton is a 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard from Dallas. Ware is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard/forward from Los Angeles.
Allbritton averaged 21.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.8 steals as a senior last season at Garland Christian Academy in Garland, TX. The Swordsmen posted a 30-6 record during Allbritton's senior season and advanced to the regional round of the 2008 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 4A playoffs under coach Jeremy Bjornstad. Allbritton, who is ambidextrous, totalled 549 points and hit 96 three-pointers as a senior and made 246 threes en route to totalling 2,183 points in his career. He was named first team All-State and was voted Best Offensive Player in his district as a senior.
Ware averaged 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds as a senior last season at Bishop Montgomery High School under coach Doug Mitchell. The left-handed Ware was named the 2007-08 Player of the Year by the L.A. Daily Breeze as well as MVP of the Redondo Christmas tournament in Dec., `07. Ware scored 637 points as a senior in helping lead his high school team to a 26-7 record. He was named to the 2007-08 All-Del Rey League first team and helped lead the Knights to the `07-08 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Div. IIAA championship title.
"We're very excited to have Matt and Aaron join our team," Hobbs said. "Matt will give us the added outside shooting that we need while Aaron has a great feel for the game and his athleticism gives us added depth at the guard position."
Hobbs also announced that former GW men's basketball team manager, Jeff Alston, has been added to the roster for 2008-09. A 5-foot-9 guard, Alston has served as a manager for the squad for the past three seasons after graduating from Good Counsel High School in suburban Wheaton, MD.
