WASHINGTON, DC - For the second straight day, the George Washington bats were not alive against Atlantic 10 rival Charlotte. GW only recorded two hits, one was a solo home run by senior Jackie Yaniga. It was Yaniga's GW leading 26th career home run, but only her first of the season.
Junior Tori Sensi collected the only other base hit and also drew a walk on the day. Sophomore pitcher Amanda Gabriel also reached virtue the free pass.
Gabriel received the loss pitching 5.2 innings, allowing eight runs (four earned), while striking out five.
GW kept the game close as Charlotte took an one run lead in the second, but Yaniga's bomb in the fourth tied the game.
Once again, one bad inning cost the Colonials as Charlotte erupted for seven runs in the sixth.
Freshman Ali Pardo pitched 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.
GW travels to Maryland to face the Terrapins Wednesday, April 23, in a 4:00 pm non-conference doubleheader.
