Women's Tennis Falls in Atlantic 10 Opener

MONTCLAIR, VA - George Washington women's tennis suffered two defeats at home over the weekend, falling to MD-Baltimore County on Friday and then to Richmond early on Saturday. The contest against the Spiders of Richmond was the first A-10 match of the season for the Colonials. The two losses drops GW's overall record to 1-3.
UMBC took the doubles point against the Colonials and then finished them off by winning four of the singles competitions to take the match, 5-2. Kendall Swenson (8-3) and Mara Frisch (3-4) recorded the two points for GW, each winning their respective matches in straight sets. Frisch paired with Madhuri Jha (4-5) to register a doubles win as well.
Richmond dominated play against George Washington, winning by a final score of 7-0. The Spiders won all of their matches in straight sets.
GW (1-3, 0-1 A-10) will look to put an end to their current two-match skid on Thursday when they face Georgetown (1-7, 0-2 Big East). The match, schedule for a 9:00 a.m. start, will be held at the East Potomac Tennis Center.
