
Women's Tennis Defeats Local Rival George Mason

MONTCLAIR, VA - George Washington women's tennis earned their first win of the 2007 season in impressive fashion, downing George Mason 7-0. It marked the first home match played by the Colonials.
GW dominated the contest, winning all six of the singles' matches and two of the three doubles competitions. Junior Kendall Swenson opened the match as the number one seed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Maricel Ballester to improve to 7-2 overall this year.
Madhuri Jha, Tracy Stecko, Mara Frisch and Rachael Honig all won their match-ups in straights sets. Verena Knoedler, the fifth seed, won her match after dropping the first set, 3-6, 6-0, 6-0.
The Colonials will aim to continue their winning ways Friday, Feb. 23, when they play host to MD-Baltimore County at 1:00 p.m. The match will be held at the Montclair Country Club in Montclair, VA.
