PHILADELPHIA, PA - Sophomore women's basketball player Jessica Adair earned a share of her second Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week award, the league office announced on Monday. Adair averaged a double-double to lead nationally-ranked GW to a pair of victories last week.
Adair, who ranks in the Top 10 in the league in four categories, averaged 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.0 steals to help the Colonials post victories over Rhode Island and Xavier, maintain their nine-game winning streak and perfect A-10 mark (5-0), and jump out to the best record in program history at 16-2. Adair totaled 16 points, nine rebounds, a career-best five blocks and career-high tying three steals in GW's 61-45 win over the Rams on Thursday. She then grabbed a career-high 15 boards and added 11 points, three blocks and three steals to lead the Colonials past Xavier 67-55 on ESPN2 on Sunday. Adair split the weekly award with Duquesne's Loui Hall.
The District native paces the Colonials with 12.6 points on 53.8 percent shooting, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 16 games this season.
GW kept its No. 11 ranking in this week's Associated Press Top 25, in which the Top 13 teams remained the same, with No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 7 Connecticut trading slots. However, the Colonials gained 42 points, the largest votes jump of any team in the Top 13. GW gained ground in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll, moving one spot to No. 12.
The Colonials play their second of four straight road games at Dayton on Friday at 7:00 pm.
