Audrey Noonan Named to Academic All-Conference Team

WASHINGTON, DC - Sophomore Audrey Noonan (Barrington, RI/Barrington H.S.), who established the fastest time in Colonials history in 2006, has been named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team. The A-10 honors, which were voted on by the Conference's sports information directors based on cumulative GPA and athletic performance, were announced on Tuesday.
Noonan, an All-Conference performer, and international affairs major, won her first career race on October 14, 2006 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. While doing so, she clocked in at a personal record 18:14.80, which also broke the record for the fastest time in Colonials history which was set by Lauren Edwards, who ran a 18:25 at the 1995 Atlantic 10 Championships. Her record breaking season did not stop there as she recorded the fastest time ever for a Colonial at the Atlantic 10 Championships finishing in 18:19.20, good for seventh place overall.
Battling injuries the first half of the season, Noonan only competed in three races, debuting at the William & Mary Colonial Inter-Regional in September. Despite her injuries, she led the Colonials in all three of those races, and led GW to a 10th place team finish at the A-10 Championships.
Noonan is joined on the women's cross country Academic-All Conference team by 2006 Student-Athlete of the Year, Jane Daniels of Charlotte, Christina DeRosa of Massachusetts, Katherine Guilfoyle and Courtney Klenk of Rhode Island, 2006 Conference Champion, Rachel Papin of La Salle, and Amanda Russell of Richmond.
