Cross Country Concludes 2006 Season

LOCK HAVEN, PA - The George Washington University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their 2006 season at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet Saturday morning in Lock Haven, PA. The men were led by junior Joe Altenau, and the women by sophomore All-Conference performer, Audrey Noonan for the fourth straight race.
The men's squad who finished 23rd out of 25 schools were led by Altenau who covered the 10K course in 33:04.2, good for a 93rd place finish, out of 178 runners. Sophomore Collin Stevenson who battled injury throughout the season finished second for GW in just his third race this season. Stevenson finished in 114th place in 33:37.5. Junior Mark Drath finished the season strong finishing third on the Colonials in 120th place, crossing the line in 33:43. Senior Daniel Morgan closed out his collegiate career on a strong note, finishing 132nd place in 34:04.6. Rounding out the scoring for the men was sophomore Keith Moody, who finished in 34:12.6, just behind Morgan in 134th place.
Noonan led the women's squad to a 21st place finish out of 28 schools completing the 6K course in 22:13.9, good for 60th place overall out of 195 runners. Graduate student Kate Neeper, and senior Taylor Leavitt also closed out their collegiate careers finishing second and third for the Colonials respectively. Neeper crossed the line in 84th place at 22:40.8 while Leavitt finished 119th in 23:19.8. A pair of freshman, Meaghan Smith and Kelly Wills rounded out the top five for GW in their season finale. Smith finished 139th in 23:46.8 while Wills covered the course in 24:44.3, good for 161st place overall.
