Cross Country Wraps Outdoor Track Season at Mason Invitational

FAIRFAX, VA - The George Washington University cross country team concluded its 2005 outdoor track season on Saturday, May 7, at the Mason Invitational at George Mason Stadium. Sophomore Daniel Morgan (Danville, KY) recorded a runner-up finish in the 5000 meters to highlight action for the Colonials.
Freshman Gabrielle Polhemus (Boca Raton, FL) competed in two events for GW, the 800m and 1500m. Polhemus earned top 10 finishes in each race, placing ninth in the 800m in 2:27.82, while taking sixth in the 1500m in 5:00.73. Also competing on the women's side was sophomore Taylor Leavitt (Turner, ME), who finished fifth in the 5000 meters in 19:11.65.
On the men's side, Morgan clocked 16:06.91 in the 5000m to place second, while freshman Joe Altenau (Eastchester, NY) crossed the line in the 1500m in 4:13.49 to claim 13th. In the 800 meters, sophomore Jay Vigorita (Warwick, RI) and senior Alex Kim (Scarsdale, NY) finished with marks of 2:01.95 and 2:05.45, respectively.
