Colonials Fall To Xavier, 81-62

CINCINNATI (AP) - Brian Thornton scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Xavier to an 81-62 win over George Washington on Wednesday night.
Stanley Burrell added 16 points for the Musketeers (14-10, 8-5 Atlantic 10), and Josh Duncan had 14.
J.R. Pinnock paced George Washington (17-6, 9-4) with 13 points.
Xavier used a 17-0 run - including eight points by Thornton - from the 2:46 mark of the first half to the 15:11 mark of the second half to take control at 51-30. George Washington never got closer than 15 points after that, as Xavier held the Colonials to their lowest score of the season.
The Musketeers have won four straight against George Washington, including a 67-65 win on a buzzer-beater by Burrell in January. George Washington has not beaten Xavier in Cincinnati since Feb. 26, 1996.
