Women's Basketball Takes on Wolfpack in Raleigh, NC

WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials (6-3) take their four-game winning streak on the road against North Carolina State (8-3) on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, NC. After playing five-straight games at home, this is the first GW road trip since winning at Villanova on December 1, 2005. This will be the last game of 2005 for both teams. GW's men's team also plays at NC State (although at the RBC Center) later today with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off time.
The Colonials have run off four straight wins since a December, 7 loss to #1 Tennessee. During their current four-game winning streak the Colonials have won by an average margin of 25.25 points per game. NC State is riding a 15-game non-conference winning streak and is 5-0 at home so far this season. The Wolfpack also lead the all-time series with a 7-2 record.
GW won last year's meeting between the two teams by a score of 65-56 at home. The Colonials have split (2-2) at home against the Wolfpack but have never won in four tries in Raleigh. The teams first met in 1991 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 94-83 Wolfpack win in North Carolina. GW won the next year at home but then lost the next six in-a-row before last year's victory.
The Colonials enter the game with the 15th best strength of schedule while North Carolina State is seventh in the country. GW has the 27th best RPI in the nation with the Wolfpack with the at 13 in RPI. Both teams are receiving votes in both national polls. GW now has 16 votes in the Coaches' Poll good for 29th in the country while NC State has two votes and 40th place. In the AP Poll the Wolfpack has 45 votes and 27th place while GW has two votes and a tie for 37th place.
GW starts the New Year with its last non-conference game of the year when the Colonials host Sacramento State at 7:00 p.m. at Charles E. Smith Athletics Center on Tuesday, January 3. GW then starts Atlantic 10 Conference play as host to Dayton on Friday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m.
