WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington men's basketball team moved up a spot to No. 12 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Top 25 polls released Dec. 26 despite being idle for the last eight days.

At 8-0, GW is off to its best start since opening the 1953-54 season with 11 straight victories. GW's No. 12 ranking is its highest ranking since being ranked No. 7 the week of Jan. 3, 1956.

The Colonials will next play on Friday when they meet No. 19 (AP)/No. 18 (USA Today/ESPN) North Carolina State in Raleigh. GW will then open Atlantic 10 Conference play on Jan. 4 at Temple in Philadelphia.
