Cross Country Completes Competition at Cavalier Open

EARLYSVILLE, VA - The George Washington University men's and women's cross country teams sent just a handful of runners to compete at the Cavalier Open, hosted by Virginia, Saturday morning at Panorama Farms. Junior Meghan Hughes (Hurricane, WV) was the top finisher for the Colonials on the women's side, while sophomore Mark Drath (Los Angeles, CA) led the men.
In the women's 5K race, Hughes finished 23rd overall out of 26 runners with a time of 22:50.05. Junior Alex Krupnik (McLean, VA), meanwhile, was GW's only other finisher at 25th with a mark of 27:29.08.
On the men's side, Drath claimed 38th overall out of 49 runners on the 8K course with a time of 28:37.82. Sophomore John Woodside (Edmond, OK) was the Colonials' second-best finisher in the race at 44th with a 29:17.63 clocking.
GW returns to action when it travels to Bethlehem, PA, for the 2005 NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional, hosted by Lehigh, on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m.
