Women's Cross Country Places 21st, Men 22nd at NCAA Mid Atlantic Regionals

BETHLEHEM, PA - The George Washington University women's and men's cross country teams finished 21st and 22nd, respectively, Saturday morning at the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Lehigh at the Mountain Hawks' Goodman Campus. Leading the women's squad was freshman Audrey Hawkins (Barrington, RI), who finished 77th overall with a time of 22:31.5. Freshman Chris Pisano (Toms River, NJ) led the Colonial men by placing 97th with a mark of 32:41.3.
Hawkins covered the 6K course in a season-best time of 22:31.5 to claim 77th out of 182 total finishers. Junior Taylor Leavitt (Turner, ME) was GW's next best finisher at 107th with a time of 23:13.8, while senior Meredith Deschenes (Watertown, CT) finished 134th at 23:42.4, easily a season-best. Completing the scoring was senior Colleen McCauley (Havertown, PA), who placed 143rd in a season-best 23:52.6, and sophomore Mae Polhemus (Boca Raton, FL), who crossed the line in 24:29.9 to take 155th.
On the men's side, Pisano once again set the pace for the Colonials as he finished 97th out of 195 finishers in 32:41.3 on the 10K course. Finishing as GW's second-best finisher was freshman Collin Stevenson (Sumner, WA), who placed 127th at 33:28.2. Junior Daniel Morgan (Danville, KY) was next to cross the line at 131st in 33:40.8, while sophomore Joe Altenau (Eastchester, NY) claimed 142nd with a mark of 34:02.2.
Freshman Keith Moody (Orange, FL) was the Colonials fifth-best performer with a time of 34:54 to finish 166th, and Mark Drath (Los Angeles, CA) rounded out GW's finishers at 175th with a mark of 35:18.7.
