Men's Basketball Holds Open Practice Thursday from 5-6

WASHINGTON, DC -- The defending Atlantic 10 champion George Washington men's basketball team will open the doors to Charles E. Smith Athletic Center on Thursday from 5-6 p.m. for students and fans who want to get a sneak peek at the Colonials. Admission is free.
Under fifth-year head coach Karl Hobbs, GW opens the season playing six of its first eight games at home beginning with the opener on Nov. 23 against Kennesaw State. GW also faces crosstown rival Maryland on Dec. 5 at MCI Center in the 11th Annual BB&T Classic.
GW was tabbed the No. 11 team in the country in a preseason Top 25 poll by CBSSportsLine.com. The Colonials also have been ranked No. 14 by FoxSports.com and 27th in ESPN.com's Sizzling Summer Top 50 this preseason.
The defending A-10 champion Colonials, 22-8 in 2004-05, return four of five starters, including A-10 All-Conference selections Pops Mensah-Bonsu (London, England), and leading rebounder Mike Hall (Chicago, IL), the A-10's Sixth Man of the Year, Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock (McDonough, GA), along with five other returning letterwinners and three highly-touted freshmen and LSU transfer Regis Koundjia (Bangui, Central African Republic) who becomes eligible in late December.
