Cross Country Sweeps Mount St. Mary's Invitational

EMMITSBURG, MD - The George Washington men's and women's cross country teams each earned victories at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on Saturday morning at the Mount cross country course. For the Colonial women, it was their third straight victory as all five scorers finished in the top five and GW finished with a perfect score of 15 points. Sophomore Daniel Morgan (Danville, KY), along with freshmen twin brothers Christian (Edmond, OK) and John Woodside (Edmond, OK), led the GW men to its first win of the season as all three placed in the top five.
Senior Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ) earned individual gold for the Colonials covering the 5K course in 20:03.37. Junior Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA) placed second (20:23.80), followed by freshman Erynne Jones (Upland, CA), who finished third with a time of 20:27.38. Rounding out the top five for the Colonials was senior Trina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA) in fourth (20:28.88), and freshman Michelle Concannon (LaGrangeville, NY) in fifth at 20:34.60. The top-10 finish for Jones marks her third of the season in as many meets.
Sophomore Taylor Leavitt (Turner, ME) and junior Olivia Schramm (Berwyn, PA) also finished in the top 10, placing seventh (20:44.11) and 10th (21:27.61), respectively.
The third-place showing for Morgan (28:38.38) marks the second straight meet in which he was the Colonials' top finisher, as GW finished with just 26 points as a team. Christian Woodside placed fourth in 28:58.24, followed by his brother John in fifth at 29:13.92. The top-10 finish for John Woodside was his second in three meets.
Senior Art Rowbotham (Lakeland, FL) earned eighth with a time of 29:26.18, while freshman Jeff Scranton (South Windsor, CT) continued his solid season with a mark of 29:28.36 on the 8K course to claim ninth and complete the scoring for GW. Senior Alex Kim (Scarsdale, NY) also placed among the leaders with a time of 29:30.83 for 11th.
The Colonials return to action next weekend when they host the Eighth Annual GW Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25, at Bull Run Park in Centreville, VA.
