Joens Named A-10 Player of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior guard Cathy Joens (Irvine, CA/Calvary Chapel) has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced the A-10 office on Sunday, February 15. Joens is currently in the top 15 in 10 A-10 categories including second in scoring at 20.3 points per game.
Joens averaged 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals in wins over Richmond on Feb. 8 and Xavier on Feb. 12. She shot 57.0 percent from the field (20-35) and an impressive 62.0 percent from the three (13-21), which included eight three-point field goals versus Richmond that set a GW record for made threes in a game. Joens contributed 31 points versus Richmond and 28 points versus Xavier.
Joens and the Colonials will look to extend their 10 game winning streak with two tough road games, one at Rhode Island on Friday February, 20 at 7:00 p.m. and one at Duquesne on Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m.
