WASHINGTON (AP) - In a match-up between brothers T.J. and Landy Thompson, the older sibling walked away with the win as George Washington defeated Mount St. Mary's 81-58 Wednesday night.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored a career-high 27 points on 11-12 shooting, reaching 20 points for the third straight game. Mensah-Bonsu added 7 rebounds, 4 blocks and a steal to his total.
Senior T.J. Thompson added 16 points for George Washington (3-1, 0-0 A-10), hitting 5 three-pointers.
Mount St. Mary's (1-3, 0-0 Northeast) managed only 37 percent shooting, while George Washington shot 60 percent from both the field and the three-point line.
The Colonials had four players in double figures for the second straight game as Omar Williams and Ricky Lucas each scored 11 points to join Mensah-Bonsu and Thompson.
The George Washington grabbed 9 steals and scored 20 points off Mount St. Mary's turnovers.
Kiel Butler scored 14 to lead The Mount. Junior Landy Thompson added 12, reaching his 1,000th point on a fall-away three-pointer in the first half.
T.J. and Landy Thompson combine for the most points scored by brothers currently in NCAA Division I basketball with 2,096.
