WASHINGTON, DC - Junior Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year for the 2002 women's soccer season on November 7, as voted by the league's head coaches . Three other Colonials were honored as well; senior Kesha Christoph (Columbus, OH/Tatnall School) was named First-Team All-Conference as a back, and both freshmen midfielder Ina Kain (Irvine, CA/Woodbridge) and goalkeeper Kelly Paolucci (Lanham, MD/Good Counsel) were named to the All-Rookie Team.
Warner entered the weekend leading the conference with 15 goals and 35 points. She was honored twice this season as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and is third in the conference with four game-winning goals. For her career, Warner is third all-time at GW in both goals and points with 28 and 64, respectively.
Christoph, a fifth-year senior with Colonials, spent the season helping Warner by stopping the other teams leading scorers from securing any points against GW. In addition to her defensive prowess, she is 24th all-time on the GW scoring list and will help lead the Colonials in the playoffs as she is the only member of the squad with post-season experience.
Kain quickly emerged as a potential star for GW by tallying five goals and four assists in her first season to place her second on the team in scoring. Two of the goals were game-winners.
Paolucci has amassed an 8-2 record with three shutouts, while making 111 saves, in her first season as a Colonial. She ended the season with a 1.82 goals against average.
The Colonials are in action at the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday in Dayton, OH, against Rhode Island at 5:30 p.m.
