Men's Cross Country Team Places Fifth, Women Ninth at Atlantic 10 Championships

PITTSBURGH, PA - The GW Cross Country team competed at the Atlantic 10 Championships on November 2. Junior Darrell Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) finished sixth out of 108 runners to lead a men's squad to a fifth place finish. Freshman Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA/Council Rock) finished 25th out of 116 runners to help the women finish ninth.
Andruski completed the race in 25:35, just 13 seconds behind race winner Todd Witzlebon of La Salle, while setting the record for the fastest time at the A-10 Championships in GW history. Junior Dave Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) finished 18th in a time of 26:10 followed by senior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School). Senior Matt Kascak (Summerville, SC/Summerville) and freshman Phil Sherman (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) rounded out the scoring for the men's team.
On the women's side, Blum finished the course in a time of 18:57. Sophomore Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) finished just seconds after Blum in 30th place followed by fellow sophomores Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline). Freshman Meghan Dunn (Clinton, NY/Clinton) was the fifth finisher for the Colonials.
Up next, the teams will prepare for the NCAA Regionals on November 16.
