Beil Named Assistant Cross Country Coach
WASHINGTON, DC (July 24, 2001) -- Brian Beil has been hired as the assistant men's and women's cross country coach at The George Washington University, Athletic Director Jack Kvancz announced.
Beil joins GW after serving one year as the assistant cross country and track coach at East Carolina, his alma mater. Prior to that, he was a personal trainer and assistant fitness staff director at Pulse Athletic Club in Greenville, NC. While at East Carolina, Beil implemented strength training programs, coordinated academic progress of the student athletes, planned weekly workouts and developed course layouts for the cross country meets. At the Pulse Athletic Club, Beil designed and implemented member retention programs. Beil also made fitness assessments, body composition analysis, exercise prescriptions, as well as led clients through fitness programs.
At East Carolina, Beil was a team captain and MVP. A 2000 graduate of ECU, he also was presented with the 1999 Men's Cross Country Prestigious Pirate Award for outstanding achievements in both academics and athletics.
Beil graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in health and human performance. He also was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Colonials will begin their 2001 season on Saturday, Sept. 8, when they compete in the Towson Invitational.
