Colonials Depth Win Day
WASHINGTON, DC (April 7) GW women's tennis received solid play from the entire team, as the Colonials beat Temple 5-2 on Saturday, April 7.
GW took the doubles point 2-1, behind victories from their #2 and #3 doubles teams. Sophomore Tracy Wei and freshman Nazli Gencsoy took their doubles match 8-4, while the pairing of sophomore Samantha Fisher and junior Susie Coggin won by forfeit. Junior Kat Stastny and freshman Lindy First lost a battle to the Owls first doubles team, 9-7.
In singles play, GW looked to their depth to secure a victory in Philadelphia on Saturday. With top singles players Wei and Gencsoy losing against tough competition, the Colonials dug down deep, with sweeping the rest of the singles matches, and taking the four final points on the day.
GW (8-3) will finish the regular season with local matches against James Madison University on April 12, and American University on April 17, before heading to the Atlantic 10 Championships schedule from April 20-22.
