WASHINGTON, DC – George Washington women's tennis lost a close match yesterday against local rival American University.
GW battled the Eagles to a 3-3 tie through singles play with Colonial freshmen Nazli Genscoy and Lindy First picking up wins in the second and third singles matches. Genscoy defeated Regan Campbell 6-3, 6-4, while First added her own victory over AU’s Jacqueline Hagen 6-3, 6-4. Kat Stastny notched GW’s third win with an easy match over the Eagles’ Lourdes Riusech, 6-0, 6-1.
AU won the day with solid doubles play, sweeping the Colonials in the three doubles matches to take the remaining point and post a 4-3 win.
GW (9-5) next prepares for the Atlantic 10 Championships at Veterans Park in Hamilton, NJ from Friday, April 20-22.
