Colonials Split Matches On Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC (February 18, 2001) - Women¹s tennis recovered from a tough loss to Army on Saturday, losing 3-4 to sweep Albany 7-0 at West Point in the second dual match, as Tracy Wei remained undefeated in both singles and doubles play.
GW and Army clashed on Saturday, in a dual match that could have gone either way. the Colonials took the number one and two spots in singles matches with Tracy Wei and Nazli Gencsoy topping their Army counterparts. However, Army would sweep the final four singles spots. Lindy First, coming off an absence in GW¹s last dual match, lost in the third set of her match 0-6, 6-2, 2-6.
The Colonials were able to win two of the three doubles matches with Lindy First and Kat Stastny and Wei and Susie Coggin easily winning allowing GW to take the final dual match point.
Against Albany, the Colonials enjoyed greater success, winning every match. In fact, in the top three singles spots, Wei, Gencsoy and Stastny did not lose a single game, taking all three matches 6-0, 6-0. GW also took all three doubles matches to win the day 7-0.
The Colonials (1-2) next travel to face Maryland on February 21, at 2:00 pm.
