Women's Tennis Edged By Rutgers, 4-3

WASHINGTON, DC (February 12, 2001) - George Washington women's tennis lost their season opener as Rutgers slipped by the Colonials 4-3 on Sunday.
George Washington women's tennis was without #3 singles seed Lindy First, but dominated the top two singles seeds with sophomore Tracy Wei and freshman Nazli Gencsoy easily topping their opponents. GW and Rutgers would split the singles matches, 3-3 with GW junior Susie Coggin playing out of her regular #4 seed at #6 picking up the Colonials¹ other singles victory.
The Scarlet Knights took two of three doubles matches to win the overall dual-match. Coggin and junior Katarina Stastny lost a battle in the #1 doubles seed in a match that went to a tiebreaker, 9-8 (4). Wei and Gencsoy took the 2nd seed to notch the only doubles victory for GW.
The Colonials (0-1) next travel to Army to face Albany and Army on February 17th.
