Colonials Drop Road Game To LaSalle, 77-68

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Rasual Butler scored 27 points and Donnie Carr had 15 of his 21 points in the second half as La Salle defeated George Washington 77-68 on Saturday.
Chris Monroe had 18 points and SirValiant Brown 16 for George Washington, which made only 23 of 73 shots (31.5 percent) and only three of 28 from three-point range.
Brown, the nation's leading scorer with a 25.4 average, made only five of 27 shots and only one of 14 from beyond the arc.
La Salle (9-12, 3-7 Atlantic 10) twice led by 15 points in the first half, and held a 34-24 lead at the break. However, the Colonials (10-12, 4-5 Atlantic 10) closed to 45-42 on two free throws by Monroe with 12:32 to play. But La Salle - which trailed only in the first minute of the game boosted its lead to 59-51 at the 7:29 mark.
After a Monroe layup brought the Colonials to within 64-61, Carr hit four straight free throws, giving La Salle a 68-61 edge with 2:55 to play.
Antxon Iturbe made a layup for George Washington, but Butler's three-point play with 2:19 remaining gave the Explorers a 71-63 lead.
La Salle lost 99-75 to George Washington on Jan. 29, and the defeat Saturday snapped the Colonials five-game winning streak.
