Detroit Downs Colonials 63-50 in Consolation of Rainbow Classic

HONOLULU (AP) - Rashad Phillips scored 21 points and Terrell Riggs added 10 Friday to lead Detroit to a 63-50 victory over George Washington in the consolation round of the Rainbow Classic.
Phillips did not have a big night from the field, but made all 10 free throws, all in the final 4:33, to preserve the win for the Titans (9-4). Detroit made 24 of 33 free throws overall.
The Colonials (5-6), who were involved in a scuffle after a tough loss to No. 6 Tennessee on Thursday, shot 29 percent from the floor (19-of-65). They had averaged 84.9 points in 10 previous games.
The Titans built an 11-point lead in the first half, but George Washington closed to 41-37 with 11:15 left in the game. But a 9-2 run broke the game open.
Chris Monroe led the Colonials with 17 points, but SirValiant Brown, who had been averaging 20.3 points, finished with only 4, going 1-for-12 from the floor.
