TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Altron Jackson scored 24 points and Gerrick Morris had a school and Conference USA-record 11 blocked shots as South Florida defeated George Washington 76-64 Tuesday night.
Jackson had six points, including two fastbreak slams, as South Florida opened the second half with a 19-7 run to take a 51-39 lead with nine minutes left.
Morris also had nine points and nine rebounds.
Chris Monroe had 24 points for George Washington, which had opened the season with four straight wins. The Colonials entered averaging 99 points a game.
George Washington got within 60-53 with five minutes left after Greg Collucci hit consecutive 3-pointers. The brief run ended when baskets by Morris and Jackson made it 64-53 with 4 1-2 minutes remaining.
B.B. Waldon had 18 points and Cedric Smith added 12 for South Florida (2-2), which ended a modest two-game losing skid.
George Washington's SirValiant Brown, the leading returning scorer in the nation, matched a career-low with nine points. The sophomore was just 3-of-18 from the floor.
George Washington had 18-of-67 shooting, just 26.9 percent, while South Florida converted 25 of 48 field goal attempts, or 52.1 percent.
