WASHINGTON (AP) - Duquesne, which blew a 17-point lead, came back to beat George Washington 94-89 and end a 10-game losing streak against the Colonials in an Atlantic 10 contest Saturday.
The Dukes (7-6, 2-0), who won at George Washington for the first time since 1992, had six players in double figures, including reserves Kevin Forney (career-high 16 points) and Courtney Wallace (14). Wayne Smith led Duquesne with 19 points.
Chris Monroe had 19 points for George Washington.
George Washington (5-8, 0-1), which lost its third straight, trailed 72-55 with 15:22 left in the game after a field goal and free throw by Forney. But the Colonials took a 76-74 lead on a basket with 8:04 left by SirValiant Brown, who had a game-high 24 points.
Charles Stanfield gave the Dukes, who have won four straight, the lead for good at 78-76 with 6:27 left to play. The Colonials rallied and cut the lead to 90-89 with 15.1 seconds left on a field goal by Bernard Barrow.
After two free throws by Duquesne's Devin Montgomery with 13.2 seconds left made it 92-89, Barrow missed a three-point attempt with five seconds to go. George Washington's Chris Monroe went for the loose ball and fouled Stanfield, who hit two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to seal the win.
The Dukes made nine of 12 three-point shots to take a 59-46 lead at halftime.
The Colonials played their first game this season without 6-foot-8 junior foward Patrick Ngongba, who has a broken finger and is expected to be out the rest of the year. They also were without an injured Mike King, who has not played since hurting his shoulder Dec. 11 against Siena.
