McCarthy Finishes Ninth at ECAC/IC4A Cross Country Championships

BRONX, NY - Senior Jeff McCarthy (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) placed ninth overall at the ECAC/IC4A Championships over the weekend in a time of 26:02.30, his fastest time this season.
Lehigh University's Steve Gourley placed first in a time of 25:43.90. Freshman David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School) placed 32nd with a time of 26:49.80.
The men's squad finished 16th out of 28 teams in the men's field with 362 points. Manhattan College won the 5-mile run with 85 points.
On the women's side, Lafayette's Laura Nann placed first in the 5000m with a time of 18:42.00. Senior Julie Ann Laurance (Plymouth, MN/Hopkins) placed a team-high 56th for the Colonials at 20:15.10. Sophomore Jenee Peterson (Latham, NY/Shaker) finished 58th in a time of 20:20.40. Overall, Lehigh won the women's race with 121 points. GW placed 15th in the 24-team women's field
The Colonials next run at the Bell Atlantic-Atlantic 10 Championships scheduled for Oct. 30 in Philadelphia.
