Staying in shape without the opportunity to use a gym and its resources presents new challenges in this era of COVID-19. However, this doesn’t have to limit you and your fitness goals for 2020.
Our Strength & Conditioning staff offers free workouts using backpacks, canned goods and other household items to keep you healthy. A different member of the staff goes live on Instagram (@ColonialStrong) every weekday at 9 a.m.
You can join GW softball alum Sandi Gohn Moynihan (’13) on Twitch or her Instagram (@sandigohn) every Wednesday (8 a.m. ET) or Saturday (9 a.m. ET) for a 45 minute yoga session. A lifelong athlete and lover of all things sweaty, Sandi (RYT-200, Yin Yoga-50) began practicing yoga in middle school. Several jobs, degrees and a Division I softball career later, Sandi, a full-time communications professional, chose to become a part-time vinyasa and yin yoga teacher to help other athletes, like her, discover the many ways yoga can help them compete in their sport. A true believer of "everything in moderation," Sandi loves to teach classes that will make you sweat, stretch and leave you feeling empowered to take on the rest of the day. Your body will work hard and rest hard during this 45 minute class. Designed to help the body open and improve flexibility, you will flow for the first part of class so that your body is warm and ready for some much-deserved stretching. Each stretching shape will be held for 1-3 minutes in order to give the body time to reap the full benefits of myofacscial muscle release. There will be no music live-streamed in this class to ensure you can hear me -- please feel free to play your own music.
