Lacrosse Opens Conference Play at Rhode Island

GW lacrosse makes its way up to Rhode Island on Friday to open conference play, taking on the Rams in a 5:30 p.m. matchup. The contest will be held on the campus of Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., due to construction on Rhode Island's campus.
GW holds a 4-2 record heading into conference play, the second-best mark in the league. Despite its last two losses, the Revolutionaries demonstrated a balanced offense throughout their early matchups and currently rank 24th in the country for its scoring offense. Grace Curry has led the attack and currently boasts 29 goals for an average of 4.83 per game, which ranks second in the NCAA.
The Rams enter the A-10 slate with a 2-4 mark and most recently defeated Merrimack, 13-7. Goalie Casey Phelps was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week after earning 16 saves against Merrimack. In last year's inaugural A-10 meeting with Rhode Island, the Rams won, 17-12.
