GW swimming & diving finished a strong first day at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Thursday in Ocala, Fla. After one day, the Revolutionaries men's team is in fifth place of 29 teams, while GW's women's team is 27th of 46 teams.
Alessandro Borsato led a big night for GW's rookies by breaking his personal best and finishing in second place in the 50 breaststroke (24.18), tapping just .02 seconds behind Kentucky's Cayden Pitzer. All four of GW's A-final appearances on Thursday were by first-years, as Andres Brooks, Heitor Napolitano Fonseca Reis and Talya Erdogan joined Borsato in the top heats.
Brooks, the 2026 A-10's Men's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, had GW's next-best finish of the night in fourth place in the 200 IM (1:46.79). Both Napolitano Fonseca Reis and Erdogan, who was this year's A-10 Women's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, swam the 500 free, finishing in sixth (4:25.91) and ninth (4:50.30), respectively.
Five GW swimmers competed in the consolation finals Thursday, including Natalie Sens, Daniel Choi, Ben Sosnowski, Shae Stratton and Artur Tobler.
