WASHINGTON- GW lacrosse was stopped by Charlotte at the Vern on Saturday, 20-8. With the loss, GW moves to 4-2 on the year before beginning conference play next week.
The 49ers outscored the Buff & Blue, 5-1, in the opening 15 before GW netted four goals before the break to come within three of the visiting team. However, it was mostly Charlotte who found success in the second half, as the 49ers found the back of the net 12 times to the Buff & Blue's three to secure the commanding road win.
In the loss, Grace Curry earned another hat trick to lead the GW offense. Mia Milkowski, Mckenna Jacobs and Daisen Iwan joined Curry in getting on the board. Milkowski also contributed the afternoon's two assists.
Curry and Iwan also applied the pressure on defense, and Iwan led the Buff & blue with three ground balls. As a team, the GW Revs caused eight turnovers, and both Gabi Greth and Blythe Gemmill appeared in net, with Gemmill being credited the loss and six saves.
The Revolutionaries return to action next Friday as they take on Rhode Island for the A-10 opener on the road.
