George Washington University Athletics
Women’s Basketball Stymied by La Salle, 67-52

WASHINGTON - With temperatures rising into the mid-50s on Valentine's Day in DC, GW's thoughts were turning to spring, and the women's basketball team's uniforms proved it. Rocking white and pink kits adorned with cherry blossoms in the annual Pink Game supporting women who are battling - and have battled cancer - the Revolutionaries welcomed La Salle to Foggy Bottom.
On a day when George Washington honored its royalty with former megastar Taj Abraham in the house to see her number honored at halftime, the current group of student-athletes was unable to capture the physical superiority with which Abraham played.
GW was outscored in the paint, 44-28, and limited to three points in the third quarter when a narrow six-point margin at halftime grew into a hole that the Buff & Blue couldn't surmount.
Perhaps inspired by Abraham's presence, sophomore star Gabby Reynolds double-doubled with 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, leading three into double-figures for GW.
George Washington tries again to get back in the win column Wednesday night at home vs. Richmond in a 6 p.m. tip live on Monumental Sports Network and ESPN+.
