Lacrosse Opens Conference Play at Duquesne

WASHINGTON-Â The GW lacrosse team is set for its Atlantic 10 slate, heading to Pittsburgh, Pa. to face the Duquesne Dukes in the A-10 opener for both programs on Saturday at 1 p.m.
A QUICK LOOK BACKÂ
With the best start to a season in program history, the Buff & Blue head to Pittsburgh with a 5-1 record, most recently earning a dominant 18-1 win over Radford. Leading the team in the win was first-year Sophia Levine, notching four assists and two goals; Levine's performance earned her A-10 Rookie of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.Â
Through non-conference action, first-year goaltender Gabi Greth currently sits second in the league in both goals against average (7.33) and in save percentage (.488). Also headlining the league leaderboard for GW is attacker Katie Fullowan in goals per game (3.00) and Stella Ray in both ground balls (2.67) and draw controls (4.17). AÂ GLANCEÂ AT THE DUKES
Duquesne heads to conference play with a 3-2 record, earning wins over Akron, Youngstown State and Mercyhurst, while falling to Robert Morris and Saint Francis. The Dukes most recently powered past Mercyhurst, 20-13, to scoop up their final non-conference win of the season. The Duquesne offense has been powered this season by Mackenzie Leszczynski, who has tallied 24 points (14 goals, 10 assists), and on defense Hanna Pawela boasts 11 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls. Leszczynski and Pawela have each earned 21 draw controls for the Dukes as well.Â
